Davis Churcher Eyecare is an independent Optometry practice that has been caring for the community of Devonport and beyond for over thirty years. Our Optometrists are primary eye care and contact lens providers, each certified to prescribe therapeutic eye drops to treat conditions such as conjunctivitis, allergy, dry eye and glaucoma.

We have invested in the latest digital imaging equipment, to enable us to thoroughly examine the health of your eyes. We also have a large collection of spectacle frames and sunglasses for you to choose from. Our experienced dispensing staff will take the time to make sure you have a pair of glasses that suit you and your visual needs. Steven Davis

B. Applied Science (Optometry) (QUT), Therapeutically Endorsed

Steven completed his optometry degree at Queensland University of Technology in 1999. In 2000 he and his wife traveled to Tasmania to take up a position with OPSM working between their clinics in Burnie and Devonport. In 2004 they returned to Queensland for 18 months working in a small independent practice in Gympie. In 2005 Steven purchased the practice known as Michael Churcher Optometrist in Stewart Street Devonport. The practice then became Davis Churcher Optometrists and later Davis Churcher Eyecare.

Steven completed a postgraduate degree in Ocular Therapeutics at QUT in 2012 to enhance the management of eye diseases.

Michael Churcher

BSc Optometry(Melb), Therapeutically Endorsed

Michael has over 40 years of experience in examining eyes. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1972 and started practicing with Mr Arthur Ley in January 1973. In 1976 Michael started his own practice - the third optometry practice in Devonport at the time.

Michael underwent postgraduate training through a course run by the State University of New York (SUNY) and subsequently received therapeutic endorsement.

In 2005 he sold the practice to Steven and since then has maintained an active interest in the practice in a part-time capacity.
